  • We came home on Friday night.
  • I put up some outside Christmas lights today. That has never happened before.
  • Will OU win the Big 12 South and play for the Big XII Championship Game? I guess I'll find out tomorrow.

Sunday In Review

Concluded a series on Thanksgiving. Here is the review.

  • I preached Psalm 100: 3-5
  • The heater in the movie theater came on when I turned it on today. That doesn't always happen.
  • Attendance is up and staying up...3rd week in a row over 40!!
  • Gave away a Thanksgiving Basket today.
  • Showed a video we put together called, "What I'm Thankful For."
  • The nursery is about to take over the elementary area (Tree House). We will need to find the Tree House environment a new home. My friends, pipe and drape, will be involved.
  • Several individuals talked to me about taking next steps in their commitment to Christ. That is awesome!!
  • Had a lead teacher call in sick. Lifepoint Kids called an audible. I heard everything went well.
  • I heard Christmas parade float talk in the hallway. All I'm going to say is there will be fire.
  • I can't wait until Sunday.

Sunday In Review

We kicked off a 2 week Thanksgiving series today. Here are some thoughts.

  • I preached Psalm 100:1,2 & 4.
  • It felt like there were kids everywhere.
  • Jimmy did the welcome since Brian was bringing his wife and BABY home today!!
  • Jimmy hit the welcome out of the park.
  • The music was great. Songs fit perfect with the sermon. I heard everyone singing. I love that.
  • 3 first-time guest. 4 second-time guest. Lot's of energy and conversations today.
  • I am so thankful for people who can really carry on conversations and make people feel welcome and cared for. Chrystal Antao is one person I always see talking to people (especially guests).
  • I see some growing pains on the horizon as we grow numerically.
  • Great attendance 2 weeks in a row. Wow!!
  • Marnie did not feel good but still came and held everything together. She had a thankful tree for the kids area. I don't know exactly what they were doing with it but I heard the kids talking about it.
  • I felt like I was running behind all morning.
  • We recorded some video after the service for a video we will show next Sunday.
  • I gave a report and preached at South Lakewood tonight. I am so thankful for our sending church. It was great to see Bro. Gary in the church building again.

Subject Change

I’m a picky eater. People have made fun of me since I was a kid about what I don’t eat. I don’t like cherries, strawberries, watermelon, and the list goes on... I have been known not to eat something because of the way it looks or smells. When it comes to eating I am a creature of habit. With friends and family it is something of a joke. When people make fun of me I TRY change the subject. I say something like, "let’s talk about college football, current events, family, the weather." Usually to no avail my lame attempts to change the subject fail.

One of the great attempts to change the subject in the Bible is found in John 4:19-20. Jesus and a woman are in the midst of a conversation about eternal life. Jesus bring up her sin in verse 18. Then she tries to change the subject.

I wonder if we do the same thing. When God is dealing with our heart do we change the subject? Do we find something else to think about? Do we find a way to keep busy so we don't have time to talk to or think about God?

Sermons At Lifepoint

The sermon from last Sunday is now on the church website. You can check it out here. The goal is to upload video of each Sunday's sermon to the website. This will be another way to present the gospel. It will also help people who visit the website know what to expect when they come on a Sunday morning.

Sunday In Review

We finished up the series called, The Jerusalem Priority. Here are some highlights:

  • I spoke from Luke 19:1-10. Challenged everyone to get out of the tree.
  • There was a tent in the Sandbox today - very, very cool.
  • Great attendance today.
  • We have turned a corner with the music part of the service. It has really been amazing the last few weeks. I am so thankful for the guys we have leading worship.
  • More and more people are staying to hope break everything down and clean up. Even the kids who get a ride to church asked if they could help.
  • There were at least 4 second-time guest in the service.
  • The lobby of the theater smelled HORRIBLE this morning. I asked one of the janitors about it and he said someone threw up last night. We opened doors sprayed air freshener. Oh the joys of being portable. I couldn't smell it that bad with we started the service. It got better or I got used to it.
  • We are starting a rotating outreach strategy on Saturday.
  • Set a date for a membership class for December 4th.
  • Bought some more audio cable and moved the video camera closer in hopes we can get sharper video.

Hayride And Bonfire

Each month we do something called FSN (First Sunday Night). We have some type of connection event usually at someone's house. Sometimes we discuss future plans, outreach, etc. Other times we try to create opportunities for families and individuals to build new and stronger relationships.

Last night we hosted a hayride and bonfire. It was our best FSN yet!! We had 32 people show up and it was a blast. Everyone was able to connect with people they might not have the opportunity to talk to before or after a Sunday morning service.

Here are some pictures...

Sunday In Review

Today we continued our series entitled, The Jerusalem Priority. Here are some highlights from the day...

  • We had a terrific service today.
  • When Brian did the welcome he got distracted by hand motions from the sound board meant for the band. It made for a VERY funny moment.
  • 7 first time guest always makes for a great Sunday.
  • We recorded the service on video with sound run through the sound board. Hope it worked. If it did we will be able to post the sermon on the website.
  • Set up was done in record time. I think an extra hour of sleep helped.
  • We showed a video of one of the families that moved to Owasso to help us launch Lifepoint.
  • I preached Acts 8:5-8. love how Phillip preaches about Christ then in verse 8 we see there was GREAT joy in the city. I pray God will use Lifepoint to impact our community in the same way.
  • I forgot to set my clock back last night so I woke up at 6:15 a.m. Marnie came in to tell me I was up an hour to early. So...I missed my extra hour.
  • We have a hayride and bonfire tonight. It should be a blast.
