Sunday In Review

I've taken a break from blogging since the Egg Drop. Here are a couple thoughts from Sunday.

  • It was the last Sunday for our message series Bailout.
  • Sunday I preached on the Treasure Map we see in Matthew 6:19-24.
  • The sound booth and camera have been moved to the back. This way we can open both doors to the theater. It feels more open.
  • Tried to have everyone shake hands during the welcome. We're going to try and make the transition a little smoother next week.
  • Marnie took some video shots of the kids for a video we are editing for Mother's Day.
  • A couple of guys volunteered to help with set up at 7:45 a.m. Starting next Sunday we will start a rotation. The same people have been setting everything up for the last year. Our current setup volunteers have been AMAZING, but I don't want to kill the setup team.
  • Sunday night Brian Hyatt and I made a trip to Fort Smith, Arkansas. I preached at Living Faith Missionary Baptist Church that evening.

Owasso Egg Drop - Saturday

Saturday Lifepoint hosted the Owasso Egg Drop. It was amazing. Here are some thoughts:
  • When planning the event, we didn't know exactly how many to anticipate so we created a website to allow people to preregister online.
  • Without us submitting info, the Tulsa World, Owasso Reporter, and Tulsaloop.com gave us some free publicity. By the weekend, buzz was everywhere.
  • Tulsa Helicopter helped us drop the eggs. Our pilot had a family emergency the day before but found another pilot to fill in...Whew - that was close.
  • Chic-Fil-A donated some free ice cream coupons, little cows with parachutes, and brought out the Eat More Chicken Cow...Huge hit with the kids!!
  • The Lanes at Coffee Creek donated a ton of free bowling passes and Putt and Jump donated some coupons as well.
  • Many were concerned the eggs would crack open...they didn't.
  • We had over 500 kids preregistered. The question was, "How many would register at the event?" Answer: A LOT!! We had another 500+ come to register. So, there were over 1,000 kids gathering eggs (that we know about). I think many just came in and gathered at their field.
  • Our best estimate is that there were at least 2000+ at the event.
  • We had the BEST volunteers. Everyone was flexible and jumped in to help. I was so proud of our church.
  • We gave out bags that could be used for gathering eggs. They had some information and a brochure that presented the gospel.
  • Lots of great conversations with families about salvation and attending LIfepoint.
  • I've received multiple emails thanking us for putting on the drop.
  • Here are some more pictures from the day.

This video shows one of the four fields.

We are already planning a BIGGER and BETTER egg drop next year - more activities, more fun, and MANY MORE EGGS!!! We hope you'll plan to be there!!

Owasso Egg Drop In Tulsa World

I did a search on google this morning looking at when different Easter Egg Hunts were happening around Tulsa. I came across this article in the Tulsa World. If you go down the list you will see an Easter Egg Hunt listed for Centennial Park in Owasso. It talks about 10,000 eggs being dropped from a helicopter...um...that's us!! Here's where it gets interesting. We didn't submit the information about the Owasso Egg Drop. This is going to be big ...get ready!!

Sunday In Review

We rescheduled friend day last Sunday. Here are some of the highlights.

  • I preached from Ephesians 2:8-10 and talked about how God gave us the specifics about salvation.
  • We had 4 second-time guests and 11 first-time guests
  • The keyboard power cord broke about 20 minutes before the service. In a team MacGyver moment a new cord was found, spliced and the keyboard was ready for the first song...yeah!!
  • After the service someone who worked for the city asked if I would like to pray before a city council meeting.
  • I announced the next sermon series - Bailout.
  • I wonder if we should move to a bigger theater for Easter

Friend Day - The Sequel

So, last Sunday a blizzard came we canceled services and there was no Friend Day. We have rescheduled Friend Day for this Sunday, April 5th. Make some phone calls. Talk to someone at work. Maybe you have someone in your family who doesn't go to church. Take a deep breath and invite them to come with you. 80% of people say they would attend church if invited by a friend. Let's see how many guests we can get to Lifepoint. A tool that works well is the E-Invite off the website. Plug in some email addresses and they are invited.

One last thing....would you pray for our service Sunday as we share the message of Jesus Christ.
